15 July, 2015 I am happy to announce that I have completed the Expert in Drupal 7 coursework and project! YAY!! I have a great sense of accomplishment having worked hard to achieve this goal. I enjoyed the course very much and feel like I received a valuable education that will help me build a career making Drupal sites and modules. For my final project I chose to migrate my employer’s website from a PHP, non-CMS, site to Drupal. My strengths do not lie in design, so the ability to work with pre-built themes allowed me to create a very professional site. I used many of the skills I learned in this course to build this site, however, many of the advanced lessons were not needed. That said, I do have another PHP project that could be incorporated into the new site and would require heavy module development. I may tackle that soon. In the meantime, I am starting a new project using Drupal Commerce and am also interested in learning more about how to contribute to the Drupal community. One of the things I love about Drupal is the strong community support and I want to give back. I also fear that finding employment as a Drupal developer without a large portfolio may be challenging, so contributing to the community is another way to demonstrate my abilities. I didn't know anything about Drupal and I haven't developed recently and it has been a challenge to progress, although the tutor, Fran Gil, is always available if you have to ask him to help you with anything.
