My Drupal Experience

Thank you for reading my blog post about my experience with Drupal.  I have been working with Drupal for a little over two years, and have previously built a Drupal site for my employer.  I identified an area of our business that was operating with significant inefficiencies.  I realized that by using a content management system hundreds of hours of manual labor could be eliminated and accuracy could be increased.  I began reviewing different CMS platforms before selecting Drupal.  I was attracted to its flexibilty, ability to be customized and large community support.  A number of high profile sites using Drupal was a great endorsement as well.

I began by installing Drupal core, and learning by trial and error.  I reviewed Drupal content and training articles everywhere I could find.  After a few months of working like this I had my site operational.  I used a number of contributed modules including: Views, Panels, Organic Groups, Rules, Features, VBO, and Feeds.  These robust modules took a great deal of time to master, but in the end I am very pleased with the initial version of the site, and it worked very well in production.

I have decided that I would like to build a career out of developing Drupal sites, so I enrolled in the Forcontu course "Expert in Drupal 7."  I was well versed in much of the early and intermediate material, but having no previous formal training I wanted to be sure that all of the holes in my knowledge were filled.  Indeed, there was something new to be learned in each section.  I feel that this course offers quality instruction that has gone a long way to make me a confident developer.

There is always a need to continue learning and growing, which I will do through manuals, and hopefully soon, community events.  I am eager to meet other Drupalists and exchange ideas and experiences.  If you are passionate about Drupal like I am, then I invite you to connect with me via my social media links below.

Thank you very much for reading!

Regards,

Joe Stramel

Good course, but room for improvement.

The course is very comprehensive and well structured. The units are well defined, the methodology is sound, and it provides a comprehensive and practical overview of what you can do administratively with Drupal. Each module follows a logical order that facilitates progressive learning, allowing you to consolidate your knowledge before moving on to the next topic.

Fran, the tutor, stands out for his speed and clarity in resolving doubts and validating tasks that the bot is unable to... [read more]

Very good course

During the Expert in Drupal 10 Front-End Development course, I had the opportunity to delve deeper into theme development and presentation layer customization in Drupal. Although I already had some experience in web development, this program allowed me to understand in detail the structure of the CMS, its template system, the use of Twig, and best practices for creating efficient and maintainable themes.

Forcontu's methodology, combining theory, practice, and guided activities, has... [read more]

I found the course very interesting, especially the part on decoupled development with Drupal and Vue.js. I like seeing how both can be connected using JSON:API to display the site's content. It's a modern and practical way of working, which helps to better understand how the backend and frontend are separated. In addition, the exercises are very helpful in seeing how everything works together and applying what you've learned in a real-world setting. I also found it useful to learn about the... [read more]

I found the course to be very comprehensive and well structured. From the outset, it is clear that the content has been carefully organized to guide you step by step through the use of Drupal applied to front-end development. The explanations are clear and straightforward, and the examples help you understand the concepts in a practical way that is close to what you encounter in real projects. The activities are very well designed, as they allow you to consolidate what you have learned while... [read more]

Good course and very entertaining, the bot a little less so.

For me, this course has been a very comprehensive and practical experience. I liked that it is easy to follow and designed to make learning enjoyable, without unnecessary complications.

However, there are times when it can be a little frustrating, especially when the bot does not validate your answers and you do not understand why. That slows down the pace of learning and sometimes makes you doubt whether you are doing it right. The good thing is that the teacher usually responds quite... [read more]

The most comprehensive course in Spanish

This is one of the best and most comprehensive Drupal courses in Spanish. I previously took the “Forcontu Expert in Drupal 10 Site Building” course and really enjoyed it, so the decision to take the “Forcontu Expert in Drupal 10 Back-End Development” course was not a risky one.

The course delivers what it promises from the very first pages. It is a detailed and very comprehensive course, focused on back-end development in Drupal 10 with many examples of readable and well-documented... [read more]

Participating in a Drupal course has been both a challenging and enriching experience. Although I was already somewhat familiar with the CMS, especially in customization tasks such as the forcontu_bootstrap theme, the course allowed me to delve deeper into aspects that I had previously only touched on superficially. From modular architecture to the entity and view system, each module of the course has been an opportunity to better understand how Drupal works “inside.”

I found the... [read more]

My experience with the Drupal 10 back-end course

In summary, it has been a course where it has been possible to see in an orderly and logical way each of the parts necessary to learn everything related to application development in Drupal from the point of view of Back-end in Drupal 10. The theoretical part that comes in the book or PDF of the course is excellently explained and includes many exercises to test everything learned in each of the course units.

The tutor, Fran Gil, responds quickly. It is a highly recommended and... [read more]

This course was both very interesting and very challenging for me. The course has a "vertical approach", it shows every argument in deep and then goes to another argument.

It forced me to have an attitude of patience and perseverance.

The final part was very difficult for me and I was closed to giving up. Furthermore for personal reasons I could only dedicate the week-end to the course.

However Fran was very patient with me and I finally succeeded.

I started with no... [read more]

The training has been a pleasant experience that has allowed me to learn about and delve deeper into this technology in a practical and applied way. During the course, I have been able to face different challenges that have helped me consolidate knowledge and skills that are very useful for my professional development.

The module that took me the longest was Back-End, and it was undoubtedly the most challenging, as it put me in complex situations that required structured solutions and... [read more]
