 Drupal Advanced Class Training Experience

12 October, 2015 Almost everything in this Advanced class was new to me and it was packed full of information. It started out with an introduction to PHP and to MySQL, and then went on to cover how to program modules, none of which I had ever done before. We started with the Devel module to give us tools to be able to do module development. We began with creating the basic files for a module, how to call an include file, how to use hooks, and how to reinstall modules using Devel. We programmed schemas with .install files to create/alter/delete database tables, and using programming, created menus and tabs, forms, pages, and blocks, content types, text formats, actions and triggers, filters, and dealt with programming users and permissions. All in all, this course covered an amazing amount of material. Between the knowledge and hands-on experience in the Beginner and Intermediate Site Building classes and the all of the development of modules in the Advanced class, this is a well rounded and thorough experience with Drupal. |

14 December, 2025 This course has helped me develop new skills in my work and has taught me a great deal. The tutor was perfect, correcting and answering questions on weekends and holidays. The only thing that surprised me was that there were no video conference tutorials, as I think there was a bit of a lack of human contact, but it wasn't really necessary as the course, being done this way, gave me complete freedom to go at my own pace. It is very well explained and structured, easy to understand, and includes very educational and illustrative examples. If I had to find a fault, I would say that it could be a little more up to date, as some topics use versions of libraries and frameworks that are now deprecated or no longer in use.
