Bumping along through Drupal 7 training - Beginner level

emitflesti | Drupal 7 | Expert in Drupal 7

Dear Drupalistas,

My name is Nick, and I've recently made it through the Beginner level, although I understand there is an exam at  the end (?), and I haven't seen that yet.

It took forever because I did not give it top priority.  I would put it down for a while, and then pick it up again, and so on.  Not a very efficient way to do it.  Also, I have no programming experience, and generally my IT skills are limited to MS Office software.  I did build a relational database for a job I had a few years ago, using Excel.  And I've learned a little ArcGIS, and use apps like Dropbox.  But that's about it.

My intent is to combine Drupal 8 with CiviCRM to communicate with a community of people interested in local currencies, also known as complimentary or social currencies.  If you are reading this, and have an interest in this subject (theory and practice), you can reach me at nwilliams550@gmail.com

Generally I think the course is well designed.  In a few places I couldn't understand the procedures or the terminology.  Fran was a big help.  I could explain what I did in enough detail that he was able to troubleshoot and advise me.  It's kind of a slow way to do it, since there is a lot of time lag in the back-and-forth communication, but in this way we could resolve problems and I could then continue on to the next activity.

So I would recommend the course. For me, a lot of patience was required.  For somebody with a tech background, I'm sure you could motor right along and get to the next level without too much trouble.

May the bird of paradise alight upon your  keyboard.

The Drupal 10 Site-Building course is quite complete, a great amount of functionalities are explained, and they are learned through quite interesting practical activities, it allows to learn perfectly the management of this version of Drupal, and the use of functionalities included in the core, as well as very interesting contributed modules.

The learning is done from the basics, and at the end you have obtained the necessary knowledge to carry out a project in Drupal 10 with... [read more]

The courses are quite complete and allow you to learn a lot, whether you start from scratch or if you already have some experience. Sometimes the bot can fail or fall short with some answers, but Fran responds very quickly and solves all the doubts, which is much appreciated during the development of the activities.

What I liked the most was the final part, where we work with Vue, RESTful and JSON:API, since it combines what we learned with current Front-End development technologies.... [read more]

Back-End Course Opinion

The course in general seems to me to be very well oriented for the learning of the neophyte professional in D8/9/10, as was my case. Coming from D7 the change has been radical and what I have noticed is that it is very ambitious: it takes time to assimilate all the concepts (which I insist are many). It is mandatory to review again the concepts given during the course when creating the final project. In general I think it is a great course to open doors to this technology going from the most... We have learned a lot but it has also been long. Drupal has been seen in a very valuable and useful depth.

I was able to reinforce concepts that I thought I had already mastered and I also learned a lot of new ways of doing things that will come in handy. The truth is that the course is super complete and recommended whether you want to review as if you are a beginner with Drupal.

The way it is structured also helps to get an idea of the complexity of the different exercises and... [read more]

What has helped me the most is that the course is very well structured and each activity builds on the previous one, which makes learning much easier. The solutions are well explained and you can consult the material whenever you get stuck or have any doubts. In addition, Fran responds quickly and clearly when you need help, which is much appreciated, especially at times when something does not work as expected.

Throughout the course I have learned to move with ease through the Drupal... [read more]

Course of considerable value

In this course you learn a lot of things, even if you already have previous experience in Drupal, as is my case. I have been working with this CMS for more than 8 years and, even so, I have realized that there were practices that I thought I was doing well... and it turns out that it was not so. In addition, I have discovered functionalities that I didn't even know existed. Drupal is extremely broad and versatile, so it's normal that there are areas that you have never touched or that you... As a Drupal 10 Back-End expert, I have consolidated my knowledge through a solid technical training focused on architecture, development and customization of modules and entities in complex environments. My training journey began with a full immersion in Site Building, which allowed me to master the creation of content structures, views, taxonomies and editorial workflows without programming.

Subsequently, I specialized in Back-End development, focusing on the creation of custom... [read more]

I have learned a lot, but it has also cost me. I didn't know anything about Drupal and I haven't developed recently and it has been a challenge to progress, although the tutor, Fran Gil, is always available if you have to ask him to help you with anything.

I recommend it if you are interested in learning about Drupal. It will always be useful to know about web development, php, html, etc...

What I value most positively is that it is a very practical course. It is also the most... [read more]

I have been working with Drupal for a couple of years, and this course has been very helpful in reinforcing and solidifying my knowledge of Drupal. Although I already had some prior experience, the content allowed me to consolidate key concepts and discover new functionalities that I wasn’t deeply familiar with. I also greatly appreciate that the provided documentation remains available for future reference, which will help me continue learning and applying what I’ve learned to real projects... [read more]

The Drupal 10 Back-End course has been a real challenge, especially because of the complexity of some of its concepts and the technical depth involved in developing with this CMS. However, thanks to a clear, progressive and well-structured methodology, it has been possible to advance safely in each module.
The practices proposed throughout the course have been fundamental to consolidate the acquired knowledge, allowing to apply the theory directly on real cases.
Despite the effort... [read more]
